Palmer House Hindu wedding Part Three: Rupel & Adam

Last January, I posted a blog on Courtney & Erik's wedding regarding my passion and the importance of ambience.  Rupel & Adam's wedding is another prime example.

For those who have been inside the Palmer House Grand Ballroom, it is a stately room, to say the least.  Thousands of hand-cut crystals hanging from their newly restored chandeliers shines an intense amiable glow throughout the dual-floored room, elaborate crown molding and embellished ceiling medallions.  It is simply breathe-taking.  And while not my taste (if I were to marry), I can't deny it's beauty one bit.

I have spent a lot of time looking at Rupel & Adam's faces.  And I swoon every time I go through these pictures.

Rupel's girlish charm, absolute beauty and sincerity complete with Adam's boyish smile and giddy demeanor just makes me want to re-evaluate what it means to find a soul mate.  Yea yea yea.  We all shout out our clients.  It's the thing to do, and good for marketing.

Photographers tend to be on a quest to learn from what they don't understand.  Some of us are shy and timid, some are gregarious.  But in the end, we have a segue into the lives of other people. Our cameras. 

In 1989, 4 years after picking up my first camera, I used my Nikon 8008S as a tool to get me into a world right down the street from me, but far far away.  These transsexual prostitutes and their clients had fascinated me for quite some time. This is THE project responsible for taking a dormant passion instilled at birth and fueling the desire to make documentary photography a job: To learn more about people different than myself.

East Chicago Indiana St. George Serbian Orthodox Church wedding: Stefanie & Jakub

There were a lot of tears.  A lot.

Stefanie was so excited to marry this man, Jakub.  However, just a little more than 4 years ago, when they met, the introduction was a little less … um … tasteful.  Jakub was at a bar with his friend, who happened to be Stefanie's brother, when he tried to get a laugh out of the friend by dancing on "this lady" while she wasn't looking.  "That lady" happened to be Jakub's friend's sister.

Oy.
