Michelle & Rick planned an urban warehouse wedding in Rockford, Illinois' 7500 square foot raw open space at The Prairie Street Brewhouse. It is an unassuming building located along the river, and like me and my team, found it terribly difficult to find even though it was right in front of us. Really, who gets married in an abandoned building?

A few weeks ago, Junebug Weddings published a Photographer Spotlight profile about me and my work. It was a hoot, and a lot of fun to reflect on my past 25 years as a photographer. Here is a repost, along with some additions, below. I hope you enjoy learning a little about the man behind the camera.

Ashley & Kyle. So young. So sweet. Photographing the two of them was simple, really. They met at a bar called Prost on January 17th, 2009, dated for 11 months, then celebrated their ceremony to each other on January 22, 2011.
Spending time with the couple during their engagement session and their wedding was filled with incredible laughter between the two (take note of Ashley and her constant smile and laughter) as well as incredible moments of confidence and excitement. Who can’t have a grand time photographing a wedding that is all about celebration?

Over the past several years, wedding photography has become a fashionable, well-sought after way to make a living thanks to the ease of digital cameras, computers and software.
At the same time, wedding photographers more and more market themselves as "experts" to other wedding photographers with workshops, lectures, gadgets, software and photographic plug-in "actions." Photographers don't just compete against one another, photographers now market to other photographers in orer to gain popularity, notoriety, money, create hype and status throughout the world.

This post is dedicated to Cococello, who reminded me this week (again), not every blog post has to be the epics of Homer. So like many others, I am introducing smaller posts in between the Herculean posts.
I am now just beginning to piece together the feelings relating to key concerns and questions I am facing in regards to this year of weddings and engagement sessions. Mainly about how I approach my imagery, how I handle the visual repetition and how I am learning to place that into my educational insurance bank (that is already pretty extensive).
