Samantha & Ben: Engagement Session

Oh vey.  Sam.  Samantha.  Mrs. Kreisman (considering they got married a week ago at the Elysian).  But before we go down that road, I want to share their engagement session we did in May.

Sadly, they are moving.  In a few weeks.  But I do get the opportunity to have dinner with Ben and Sam once again this Sunday.  Bring on the food, wine and the aching stomach from laughing too much!

I usually keep a professional wall between me and my clients, especially until their wedding is complete.  But Ben insisted we have dinner last winter, and then go for drinks afterwards.  So, I did.  I sense the loosening of my rules led to an incredible engagement session, and a fantastic shoot at their wedding (posting next week).

Sam should be an actress.  She is unique.  Smart.  Theatrical.  Energetic.  Outgoing.  Hysterical.  A show-stopper. She can model without a command.  Perform without command.  And work the camera and situation without command.

A photographer's dream.

Ben was slightly nervous.  But more concerned he would not know how to be comfortable or pose.  While I am more like Ben, he is truly as adorable as Sam, and did a perfect job at being in front of the camera.

Neither of the two hesitated to keep jumping at most every location.  And even in between jumps, her gaze into the camera and body language was organic.  I never once had to tell them to pose.  They just did their "thing."

I am amazed how natural some people can be, while others can be terribly difficult to loosen up.  The energy, inspiration and insight to their personalities led to an incredible shoot at their wedding planned by premier wedding planner, Reva Nathan & Associates during the July 4th weekend at the Elysian Hotel.

So stay tuned for next week, and check out the amazing wedding (and her dress)!

I was thinking about Ben this morning, so I googled his name and this came up. You two look fantastic together. Congratulations and cheers to a wonderful life. Hopefully I can meet up with you two out West at some point. Great photos Kevin.

They look like the dream client.  It is so very hard to find clients that are that open minded to allow the shooter to explore his/her creative side.  Don’t get me wrong - I love doing beach sunset engagement shoots as much as the next guy, and I’m really good at it.  But I see these, and I think these pictures here are fabulous.
