Roni & Rick: Pregnant

I hadn't spoken or seen Roni & Rick in a VERY long time. Maybe since January at another wedding they referred me to?
But on August 4th of this year, Roni wrote me an email saying,
"hi mr. w.
it's your favorite. little miss o.
well, not so little right now because I'm 30 weeks preggers. THIRTY. THIRTY! THIRTY!?"
This was something I needed to see. She is already so tiny and compact, so I was curious about how she was carrying around a baby in her stomach area.
Roni & Rick have it down. They know responsibility, respect, patience and commitment. After 3 years of building a stronger foundation they decided it was time to add a little person "to spill the love onto." Considering Roni is an actress, she was not in town much. So this did make things a little difficult. Obviously in the end, they figured things through.
Roni can be a tad "cute" with her thought processes. She started taking ovulation tests to figure out when she was ovulating. Oddly, they all came out negative - even though she was taking one every day. Finally, after about 4 weeks, Rick says, "Um, Roni. Maybe you're taking the wrong test. How about a pregnancy test instead?" (This was, of course, after Roni had scheduled a doctor's appointment to check if she was fertile). Roni proceeded to pee on a stick. 5 minutes later 2 pink lines showed up and changed their lives forever. "Our hands were shaking, our hearts skipped beats - it was incredible."
Roni showed up all smiles and excited to get her pics taken. Most people I know at that stage of their pregnancy are hunched over and more than ready to reclaim their body. Not Roni. She had more energy than before. As usual, she was bouncing off the walls. Rick was being Rick. Calm, collected and soft spoken. But never afraid to dance a little and make odd faces for the camera.
In the summer of 2006, I was redoing my engagement session studio sample album to show perspective clients. I had a few ideas about how I wanted the engagement album to look. In order to do this, we had to shoot the engagement session on multiple days. If you have not seen their engagement session posting, click here. As a result of spending so much time shooting their session, I felt as if we were long-time friends by the time August 6, 2006 rolled around.
So close, I actually overstepped my professional boundaries with my "client." Roni, Rick, the videographer and I were all running around Independence Grove taking pics prior to the rituals. Their videographer kept getting in my way throughout the day. Toward the middle of the evening, I had enough. I walked up to Roni and said, "I hate your videographer, he is getting in my way!"
Roni quietly looked at me, and in a soft voice said, "I don't care, this is my wedding." And she walked away.
Ha!
I felt badly at first, but then realized Roni was 100 percent responsible for blurring the lines between client and friend.
I am happy to say, while she has recommended me to so many of her friends, it has been nice not running in the their videographer at each of these weddings.
