Palmer House Hindu wedding Part Three: Rupel & Adam

Last January, I posted a blog on Courtney & Erik's wedding regarding my passion and the importance of ambience. Rupel & Adam's wedding is another prime example.
For those who have been inside the Palmer House Grand Ballroom, it is a stately room, to say the least. Thousands of hand-cut crystals hanging from their newly restored chandeliers shines an intense amiable glow throughout the dual-floored room, elaborate crown molding and embellished ceiling medallions. It is simply breathe-taking. And while not my taste (if I were to marry), I can't deny it's beauty one bit.

By the time I got to the reception, I was wiped. Rupel & Adam were upstairs changing, and I decided to take a break from interacting with people and head into the empty room for some room shots. Always my time to find my center and recharge. Detail shots are my favorite time.
When I walked in, I was blown away. The room not only had incredibly gorgeous centerpieces, but Rupel & Adam had taken advantage of custom lighting to accent the space. So while I was able to get away from people for a short while to recharge, I was immediately thrown into a hyper state wanting to photograph every single possible angle of their room.
Custom lighting changes everything. I could photograph one table setting 10 different ways, and each picture is completely different. I was a kid in a candy store. Not only did they up-light the entire two floors, they had a computerized spot light from four directions in the balcony to accent the toasts, first dances, parent dances and several performances during dinner.
I will stress again, custom lighting is a wise investment for any wedding. Your venue is a shell, just like your body. Dress it up and make it yours. You have spent all this time planning, investing and creating "your" wedding, why not make the venue all yours as well? Make it different from last weekend's bride & groom.
It does not have to be elaborate or costly. It can be simple. Think about it, or at least investigate the idea. I have shot hundreds of events, and the Bride & Groom who take that extra step towards personalizing the shell of the venue are the events that I, personally, remember most. And so will your guests.
